The Temple of Heaven is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture and a supreme symbol of the relationship between humanity and the cosmos. Located in the southern part of Beijing, it was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties performed solemn rituals to pray for good harvests and offer sacrifices to Heaven. Unlike the enclosed grandeur of the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven emphasizes a spiritual connection with the sky, using circular structures and blue glazed tiles to symbolize the heavens.

Philosophy in Stone: The entire complex is designed to reflect the ancient Chinese cosmological concept of "Round Heaven and Square Earth" (Tian Yuan Di Fang). The northern part of the wall is round while the southern part is square.

The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (Qiniandian): The iconic landmark of the park. This majestic triple-gabled circular building stands on a three-tiered marble base. Its roof is covered in blue glazed tiles, symbolizing the sky, with golden spires representing the sun and moon.
The Circular Mound Altar (Huanqiutan): An open-air, three-tiered white marble altar located south of the Hall. It was used for the winter solstice ceremony to worship Heaven. The numbers of stones and railings here are all multiples of nine, representing the supreme power of the emperor.
The Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu): A smaller, circular building that houses the "Spirit Tablets" of the gods and ancestors. It is surrounded by the famous Echo Wall, known for its perfect acoustics where a whisper can be heard clearly on the opposite side.
The Echo Stones: Located in front of the Imperial Vault of Heaven, these stones demonstrate fascinating sound phenomena due to the reflection of sound waves from the surrounding circular wall.
