Located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain and facing Erhai Lake, the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are Dali's iconic landmark and a national treasure. Built between the 9th and 10th centuries during the Nanzhao and Dali Kingdoms, this Buddhist complex boasts a 1,100-year history.
The trio forms a symmetrical triangle. The central Qianxun Pagoda, 69.13 meters tall with 16 tiers, is one of China's tallest ancient brick pagodas. Flanking it are two 42-meter, 10-tiered octagonal pagodas, elegant and well-proportioned. Surviving numerous earthquakes, the pagodas embody remarkable ancient engineering. Reflected in a serene pond against snow-capped Cangshan, they create a postcard-perfect scene. A symbol of Dali's "Buddhist Kingdom," they blend history, art, and natural beauty seamlessly.
