Completed in 2018, the tower ranks as China's tallest skyscraper and third in the world after Burj Khalifa Tower (828m) in Dubai and Merdeka 118 Tower (678m) in Kuala Lumpur.  Designed by the American architectural firm Gensler, the tower features a unique twisted form that reduces wind loads and enhances its structural stability. The Shanghai Tower is also recognized for its sustainable design, incorporating energy-efficient technologies and earning LEED Platinum certification. The tower serves as a mixed-use building, housing offices, hotels, retail spaces, and observation decks, especially the Shanghai Tower Observation Deck as a major tourist attraction for panoramic views of the city.
