Located 20 km southeast of Wuwei, Gansu, the White Pagoda Temple (Baita Si) is a pivotal Tibetan Buddhist site and a national key cultural relic. Founded before the Western Xia, it's also known as the "Eastern Illusion Temple" or "Hundred Pagodas Temple".

In 1247, a historic meeting occurred here between Köden, a Mongol prince, and Sakya Pandita (Sapan), leader of Tibet's Sakya sect. This "Liangzhou Negotiation" led to Tibet's peaceful integration into China, ending 400 years of division. Sapan later passed away here, and Köden built a white pagoda for his relics, giving the temple its name. Destroyed by wars and earthquakes, only the pagoda base remains. Today, a restored forest of white stupas stands beside the ruins, symbolizing ethnic unity and the enduring bond between Tibet and the motherland.
