Located in Xiahe County, Gansu, Labrang Monastery is one of the six great Gelugpa (Yellow Hat Sect) monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism, with Gongtang Pagoda as landmark. Founded in 1709 by the 1st Jamyang Zhaypa, it's known as the "World's Tibetan Academy".
