The Dingling Tomb is the shared mausoleum of Emperor Shenzong (Zhu Yijun, the Wanli Emperor) and his two empresses, located within the Ming Tombs area in Changping District, Beijing. As the only imperial tomb among the Ming Tombs that has been excavated, it is renowned for its mysterious underground palace and precious cultural relics.

Underground Palace (Mysterious "Underground Palace"): This is the main highlight. The palace is a magnificent stone structure located 27 meters underground, consisting of five halls: the front, middle, back, and two side halls. You can see the stone thrones of the emperor and empresses, the "eternal lamps" (which have long gone out), and the central "Golden Well" on the coffin platform.

Dingling Museum: Established after the excavation, the museum displays over 3,000 unearthed artifacts, including the emperor's Golden Crown (Wushan Crown) and the empresses' Phoenix Crowns, which are exquisite examples of ancient Chinese goldsmithing.

Layout of the Tombs: The above-ground structures follow the "round behind, square in front" layout, including the Ling'en Gate, Ling'en Hall (now mostly ruins), the Square City Ming Tower, and the precious city (baocheng).

Visitor Tips
Traffic Guidance: From downtown Beijing, you can take the 872 bus from Deshengmen directly to the Ming Tombs scenic area. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. There is also a direct high-speed train from Qinghe Station to Badaling Great Wall Station (about 20 minutes), from where you can take a bus or taxi to the scenic area.

Physical Fitness: The underground palace is deep underground with many stairs and dim lighting. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the climb.

Combined Tickets: If you plan to visit other tombs (like Changling) or the Sacred Way, consider purchasing a combined ticket, which offers better value.
Weather: The underground palace may be damp and cool, so it is advisable to bring a light jacket, especially during the spring and autumn.
