Tian Tan Buddha, widely known as the Big Buddha, rests on Mount Muk Yue of Lantau Island beside Po Lin Monastery. Completed in 1993 after 12 years of preparation, this grand bronze seated Buddha rises 34 meters and weighs 250 tons, ranking among the world's largest outdoor bronze Buddha statues.

Visitors climb 268 stone steps to reach the platform. The Buddha faces north peacefully. Its raised right hand delivers a blessing to dispel suffering, while the left hand rests on its lap, symbolizing compassion and generosity. The base, modelled after Beijing's Temple of Heaven, gives the statue its name. Nestled amid lush green hills, it contrasts sharply with Hong Kong's bustling downtown.

Together with the tranquil Po Lin Monastery, the Buddha creates a sacred haven. Many tourists take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car for a panoramic approach. Merging Buddhist culture, exquisite sculpture and stunning natural scenery, Tian Tan Buddha is Hong Kong's iconic spiritual landmark radiating peace and serenity.
