Bajiao City Ruins(Yongzhong Kar in Tibetan), located in Xiahe County, Gannan Gansu, stands on the Ganjia Grassland, 35km north of Labrang Monastery. Built in the Western Han Dynasty (81 BC), it was once Baishi County, a vital military stronghold on the Ancient Tea Horse Road and the Southern Silk Road.

Bajiao Ancient Town Site features a unique hollow cross-shaped layout with eight bastions, forming eight angles. This ingenious design eliminated blind spots, enabling mutual defense within arrow range. The 2,193-meter rammed-earth walls, 10 meters high, are surrounded by a moat.A national key cultural relic site since 2006, it preserves relics from Han to Qing dynasties. Harmonizing military wisdom with grassland scenery, it is a rare gem of ancient Chinese defensive architecture.
